The Creator’s Canvas combines breathtaking photography and inspiring prose to lead the reader on a three-fold journey:

Exciting personal stories testify to the fact that God continues to love and sustain all he has created. As each of the Creator’s brush strokes are revealed, the reader will inevitably respond with spontaneous praise to the One who has created such a beautiful canvas. Come and see that the Lord is good!

Stephen Payne attended Multnomah Bible College from 1984-1986. He majored in Bible, minored in missions, and was photo editor of the student newspaper. Since 1987, he and his wife Laura have served with Wycliffe Bible Translators. After translating the New Testament into the Kwatay language of Senegal, Steve worked as a translation consultant in Vanuatu, New Caledonia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan.

The Paynes currently live in Grants Pass, Oregon, with their two children Nika and Kevin. Steve works for The Seed Company – an affiliate of Wycliffe Bible Translators – making trips overseas to train mother tongue translators and translation consultants in French speaking Africa. Steve has been an avid photographer for 30 years, winning several awards and photographing five different continents. He is also an avid hiker and has done extensive hiking and climbing around the world, and has been a guide for several mountaineering organizations.
